Finding a new coffee shop is like finding a new reason to get up in the morning. There’s an excitement that makes you eager to go to sleep just so you can wake up and visit your new location at the start of the day. Discovering a new coffee shop may seem minuscule in the grand scheme of life, but if you’re someone who needs a delicious cup to help you maneuver through your day, then you know it carries significant weight.
At least that’s how I feel about coffee, lattes, teas, or anything that comes with a lid and/or straw.
Whether I’m alone in that sentiment or you’re nodding in agreement, I got that magical happy feeling when I stepped into Frank Coffee on Beverly Boulevard. I spent some time talking to the owner, Celia, on Instagram and I quickly became eager to meet the face and see the space behind the handle. She was so friendly and nice that I wanted to explore the menu of her drinks. Once the day came around, I was so happy it had arrived. Frank Coffee is such an adorable and quaint space. Although, COVID-19 limits your ability to lounge in the shop, even the minutes you get to spend between the brick wall and the register seems to be enough.
While I spent time scanning the menu, I ended up ordering a drink she suggested. An Iced Longjohn Latte ($5) came with the sweet cozy holiday feeling as its name alludes. The seasonal drink was made with cinnamon, molasses, and oat milk (my preference). And no coffee run of mine could be complete without a pastry to go: I opted for the Swedish Vanilla Bun ($5). From the latte with its dark, deep, and rich taste to the bun that was full of delightful sweetness in each bite I knew I had a new coffee shop that I would visit frequently.
Discovering Celia’s shop, Frank Coffee, has created a blissful new destination to my day that I look forward to. Any chance that I can take to visit the shop and grab a drink and pastry to jump start my morning or bring my afternoon to a close is one I welcome. Finding a new coffee shop is great, but the moment when you fall in love with it is even better.
