Last night, rapper Nas and business partner John Seymour brought their New York restaurant, Sweet Chick, to Fairfax Avenue. Arguably the greatest rapper of all time and the co-founder held a private party at the restaurant to introduce media, family, and friends to the new restaurant. A familiar location on the east side, Sweet Chick first opened on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn in 2013. The restaurant grew in popularity and the duo quickly opened a second location and a third location as of today in Los Angeles.
The opening party packed people into the space who were eager to get a first-hand look of the location while sampling cocktails and select menu items. The restaurant has an open dining space, a bar, and private room where guests can relax while enjoying items from the American style menu.
Last night I started the evening by taking a few pictures and then making my way to the bar. I sampled both of their cocktails Tiger, Tiger, Woods, Y’all that was made of bourbon, cognac, honey, lemon, and ice tea but found myself returning for seconds and thirds of the Fairfax Fling. The location titled drink took vodka, watermelon, lime, and sparkling wine and was a delicate fruit infused way to celebrate the restaurant.
In between drinks, I was in the kitchen to see the chefs making food for the many guests in the dining area. Mac and Cheese balls, crab cakes, sliders, and fried chicken and waffles left the hands of the culinary team and made its way to the crowd beyond the kitchen. While I tried each item I could grab, which was everything, my favorite was the fried chicken and waffles. The classic waffle was soft and warm while the chicken was juicy. The two together made a perfect pairing almost like Nas and John.
The night ended with an intimate, sweaty, and exciting concert featuring YG and Schoolboy Q followed by none other than Nas himself. If you weren’t allowed into the restaurant, you could surely hear the crowd’s enthusiasm from the street and sing along like you were inside.
If you weren’t at the party last night, don’t worry. Sweet Chick officially opens its doors to the public today, April 20th, and I highly encourage you to check it out and fall in love with the concept for yourself.

Of course it’s called SWEET CHICKS
hahahahahahaha! I need to call up NAS and tell him to make a GiGi-Approved menu item dammit!
I hear a menu with some delicious salmon coming your way!
OMG I love me some Nas, he was the first rap cassette tape my sister and I asked for and we wrote out each song line by line and learned it. it’s so funny to admit but it’s the truth. I love vodka and watermelon, really I love any alcohol and watermelon hehehehehe. That chick looks the real deal.
Line by line, Mary?? You guys had some serious free time and were super dedicated!!!! The chick is totally the real deal and so are you!
probably would have been tempted to sneak away with that bucket of fried chicken and call it a night (; sounds like a fun (and unique!) event :3
Hahaha I can’t lie, I thought of it myself!!
I love Nas! I grew up listening to his music, so inspiring. His restaurant looks pretty cool too! That burger!
His music from back in the day to now is amazing so to see him branch out this way was so great!
