Stay Hydrated and Help the Planet with NAYAD
Today is day 57.
As much as I’ve been discussing the coronavirus, that’s not what I’m referring to. It’s also not the number of days since I’ve last had my hair done, or the amount of time that I spent covering up this zombie bite and my inevitable transition. Instead it’s the number of days I’ve been working out straight. I’ve had a lot of bad habits that I’m coming to terms with and one of them is my weight. I coasted from 150 to 196.4 pounds since starting this website and seeing that number on the scale last December was the final straw. I decided to work out more than ever. However, it wasn’t until Lent that I took my workouts up a notch and decided to drastically change my bad habit of complacent exercise.
The only problem I’ve had with working out is I’ve quit a lot. What’s a great way to sabotage working out? Not staying hydrated.
Me: Wow, I’m just so tired and I have no clue why.
Also Me: It’s because you haven’t had water in 2 days.
That was an actual conversation I had with myself, but always having a bottle nearby has helped me from quitting. Thankfully that’s where NAYAD comes in. I discovered the reusable tumbler company thanks to a friend who always has her finger on the next best thing. Her introduction brought me to this partnership which I thought wouldn’t just lend to much other then pretty pictures with a bottle. Turns out I really love the tumbler for reasons I didn’t expect.
There’s something about the texture that draws my hand to it. I love the feeling of wrapping my hand around it whether it’s skin contact or I’m wearing my boxing wraps. It can even take a beating. Not to say I throw it around, but it did get tossed going from work, my car, and exercising in my room. Did it hold up—it actually did! It also keeps my water cold as if I just pulled it out of the fridge. Now that I’m inhaling H20 with lime, lemon, and ginger I don’t feel as if I’m drinking something that needs ice cubes that are nowhere near me. The last thing I love about it – it’s so bright so I can’t lose it. I chose the Neon Yellow Tumbler ($22.99, 22oz) and I love looking at it and walking around with it. Is that on the cusp of superficial? Sure, but it makes me happy so let me have that. Whether I throw it in my black duffle bag next to my black boxing gloves, it shines like the sun so I can’t miss it. With all of that, I no longer have excuses as to why I’m skipping hydration.
As much as I could go on about how Nayad has made a great drinkware item, what I liked most is the effort their doing for society as a whole. The company has worked long and hard to create an item that doesn’t negatively impact the environment. Their tumblers help people make a purchase that will eventually slow the use of plastic bottles and keep the planet cleaner and safer. On top of that, when you make a purchase on their website, they’ll donate a portion of the sale to a deserving organization that you choose. What is incredibly timely and commendable is that during the coronavirus, NAYAD is mailing free hand sanitizers to all of their current and previous customers. Buy a new bottle and pop off the lid to find a surprise inside that will keep you safer during this time. Along with that, the company is donating personal protection equipment (i.e. face masks) to staff working at local hospitals. As someone who works in a hospital, knowing that immediately brings a smile to my face.
After having a few days with my new neon tumbler, I’m really happy I have it. I love the way it looks and I appreciate that it helps me to stop making excuses for working out. Even more, I love that the company behind the bottle actively does so much to help out the planet, non-profit organizations, and individuals who may be affected by the coronavirus. Knowing all of that makes drinking from my Nayad tumbler and staying hydrated taste and feel so much better.
