There isn’t a shortage of things to do in Los Angeles.
Whether you’re looking for a hike, to see peacocks, or a concert there are a handful of activities to do within this city. One of the things I love is to attend food related events. While I can’t go to them as often as I would like there are a few that I anticipate with each start of this year. This time around, my excitement kicks in the closer I get to Masters of Taste.
In its fourth year, Masters of Taste continues to be the premiere food event in Los Angeles County. Held at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, the event brings 2,500 ticket holders to try over 100 food and beverage companies (also known as the Masters). With a ticket in your hand, Masters of Taste put you directly in front of restaurants like The Raymond, Sumo Dog, Salazar, Momed, Mercado, and many more.
While it’s exciting to try a handful of restaurants and drink companies, the best part of Masters of Taste is that they donate 100% of the event proceeds to Union Station Homeless Services. Ticket donations to Union Station Homeless Services help the organization bring an end to homelessness and allow them to contribute to rebuilding people’s lives. Knowing that purchasing a ticket to a food event can help a non-profit organization save lives is a beautiful feeling.
In anticipation for the event, I was invited to a preview to get a first-hand look at some of the food and drinks that would be across the Rose Bowl field. On a much smaller scale compared to all the food ticket holders will enjoy, preview attendees tried five meal items paired with drinks. Coctel de Camaron from Salazar and a Seafood Gumbo Pot from Preux & Proper were two dishes that were beautiful introductions to what the event and the evening would entail. Followed by a Seared Sea Trout from The Raymond and a Roasted Prime Striploin from Faith and Flower were the best ways to sample the main dishes that would be featured on the big day.
Since no great dinner or event can end without dessert, Masters of Taste has handpicked a selection of sweet vendors to close the food of the day. At the preview, Lark Cake Shop served out the sweetest and softest Red Velvet Mini-Cupcakes and Mignon Chocolate followed with a pair of exquisite chocolates that would make anyone excited to dive in to find out the flavor.
Having the chance to try a few of the Masters that will be at this year’s Masters of Taste was a great way to see what would come at the event on the big day. Masters of Taste is a fun and exciting event that brings some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles in one place. Across the 50 yard line of the Rose Bowl field you can eat and drink as much as you can and help a wonderful organization at the same time!
