I feel like I hear more and more people say that summer is just around the corner. Then I look out the window, flip through the calendar, and put my finger to my chin and think “Which corner is that?”.
The minute the statement comes out through a person’s lips I want to put my hand over their mouth and say, “Dude, it’s March, chill.” But I keep quiet so I don’t ruin that person’s dream of being hot for three consecutive months. As eager as people are to wear shorts, flip flops, and have sweat dripping down places it shouldn’t, I’m more excited about spring. Perfect weather is all I need and the only thing making it better is the idea of all the exciting food events that will take place. One event that has me eager to fast forward few months is, Masters of Taste.
Now in its third consecutive year, Masters of Taste will kick off on Sunday May 6th, 2018 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. On the field of the iconic Rose Bowl, ticket holders will get to sample bites and drinks from some of LAs well-loved restaurants, bars, and wineries. The food focused event will showcase 50 Culinary Masters that will hand out small bites from restaurants including Ayara Luk, Celestino, Gus’s Barbecue, Redbird, and many more. In addition to the eats available, 25 Beverage Masters will keep drinks flowing from spots including Nekter, Magnolia House, and The Raymond. To end it all on a delicious note, the Sweet Masters of the event will be Helados Pops, Sidecar Donuts, and of course a few other locations to encourage you to lick your fingers.
In preparation for the event to come, the team organizing and promoting the highly anticipated event – Lawrence Moore and Associates – held a preview of the festival. With a handful of the vendors on site, guests had the chance to have bites and sips of the food that will be served in just a matter of months. Just as exciting, we had the opportunity to hear about the charitable component of Masters of Taste from two of the organization’s representatives. For the 2,500 event tickets sold, Masters of Taste will donate 100% of the proceeds to Union Station Homeless Services. The Pasadena based nonprofit organization works to help end homelessness throughout Los Angeles County and help those affected create and lead better lives. Starting in 1973, Union Station Homeless Services has upheld a beautiful perspective of dedicating their work to the notion that “every person deserves a life of dignity and a safe place to call home”. To know that Masters of Taste will offer proceeds to the organization, purchasing a ticket does more than offer an afternoon of great food.
If you’re looking to attend the upcoming event, tickets can be purchased here. While Early Bird General Admission and VIP tickets have sold out, General Admission tickets ($105) and VIP tickets ($165) are still available. If you’re unable to attend, but love the cause associated, donations to Union Station Homeless Services can be made at any time until May 31st.
After sampling some of the food and drinks at the preview, I’m excited at what’s to come for Masters of Taste this spring. With that said, summer may not be right around the corner but spring is. Knowing that the month of May will bring both clear skies and Masters of Taste is something I’m really looking forward to and I hope you are as well!
