Few things are as sweet as winning an award for something you’ve worked so hard on.
The recognition that comes from your industry leaders and peers asserting that you’ve excelled has to be one of the most rewarding feelings one can experience. Years of hard work leading to the moment where you receive such acclaim is what fuels determination and a person’s strong work ethic. The Oscars are the perfect example of this. Airing tonight on ABC 7, the Oscars has honored the best actors, cinematographers, directors, and more within the Hollywood film industry. Given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 1929, more than 3,000 Oscar statuettes have been given to nominees who’ve lead the way within their respective creative fields. As sweet as the feeling is to be nominated and even win, the desserts during the Governors Ball—the celebration following the awards show—might be just as sweet.
Well, maybe not as close, but sweet nonetheless.
During the Governors Ball, nominees and winners will get to taste some of the best desserts imagined by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a selection of plated sweets, passed small plates, vegan treats, and a dessert action station. With more than 30 individual options, there will be an incredible selection to choose from. Taking into dietary concerns, the Wolfgang Puck Catering team will include items that are vegan, gluten-free, and common favorites full of the perfect balance of sugar and flour.
Taking ordinary desserts and making them mouthwatering is no difficult task for the catering team. Ordinary chocolate chip cookies and chai lattes, may seem uninteresting, but when the team of this notoriety takes on a night of this caliber, they will be the best you’ve ever had. Move over Girl Scouts. A few favorites that I discovered were the Tropical Pavlova with Macerated Jackfruit and Dragon Fruit (vegan), Passionfruit Cheesecake, and the 24 Karat Dusted Valrhona Illanka Chocolate Oscars. Having 6500 Valrhona Illanka pieces, the 63% single origin chocolate from Peru making the chocolate Oscars is one of the signature items on the dessert menu. Not to be forgotten, the team will have approximately 10 Kg of golf luster to cover the chocolate statuettes.
The list of desserts, pastries, and sweets appears to flow and flow from the kitchen to the dining room. Additional items include Hibiscus Orange Pate de Fruit, Yuzu Religieuse, Ombre Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Strawberry Ginger Cheesecake with Jamine Gelee, Tropical Halo-Halo, Red Velvet Whoopie Pies, Cashew Vanilla Tiramisu, Air Bread “ Sea Urchin” with Passion Fruit Caviar, and so many more.
While each nominee won’t win the award for the category they’re in, the chance to be considered is exciting in the least. Add to that, the delicious sweets served following the big show will be a great way to end the night.
