“My name is Danielle Salmon and I don’t know how to bake.”
That’s a sentence that I’ve come to terms with only a few years ago as I watched a failed pastry attempt go to waste in the oven. Pulling yet another burned baking dish off the rack I said goodbye to ingredients and money that I couldn’t get back. My ability to create or follow a recipe is near disappointing especially when I look at some of my friends who almost rival Martha Stewart.
Am I jealous? Yes. Have I gotten over it? That’s still up for debate.
I reflected more on the reality that I can’t cook when I was approached by Bristol Farms about their Peach Dessert Recipe Contest. The growing Southern California based grocery store has more than ten locations from Woodland Hills to La Jolla and with each one they work daily to provide fresh food and to positively serve the communities in which they reside. In the digital space, Bristol Farms shares news and updates about their products through beautiful light-hearted blog posts and even holds exciting contests. This peach contest is a perfect example of that.
In the #BFGetPeachy contest, folks who know their way around baking can submit their own original recipe online for the chance to win great prizes. The grand prize winner will get a $500 Bristol Farms gift card with two $100 gift cards going to the second and third place winners. The instructions and rules are extremely simple and downright foolproof. Create your own recipe, take your own photos, and submit the ingredients and instructions by 11:59pm on Wednesday July, 18, 2018. While I can’t participate, partially because I know I can’t bake, I am partnering with Bristol Farms to promote it. I think it’s a really great contest for those who love to whip up desserts and the prize is incredible. Seriously, a $500 gift card will go a long way! Let me not forget to add, the grand prize winner will also be featured on the Bristol Farms website for two weeks. To avoid another burned dish in the oven I went to the store and got my own Peach Tart ($25) and have been enjoying the sweet juiciness of it all bite after bite. It’s my own way of being a part of the contest and if you know how to bake you should join in on the fun before it ends!
